Linux is a UNIX like operating system for computers that assembled and developed under the free and open source software development and distribution. The operating system is first developed by Linus Torvalds, today there are several Linux types which differed from each other by the Linux kernels used. As a free and open source operating system, Linux can be distributed freely without any infringement on the copyrights or trade mark violation. Linux laptops become popular due to its free and open source operating system. Unlike the use of windows or other operating system, any users who install illegal or unlicensed copy of the operating system can be prosecuted for copyright violation and for software piracy.

Most users will choose Linux laptops because there will be any kind of copyright violation and software piracy issues for using the operating system as well as applications running on Linux. Linux basically can run on any computer hardware, which also includes tablet computers or smart phones. The laptop is designed for mobility and usually taken for travel by its user. Going to different location with different regulation can cause legal problem when it comes to legal operating system and application software.
